Successful Colorscaping
Successful
colorscaping begins with careful planning in order to have color from early
spring through the fall. Rotational
planting should be considered to enjoy color throughout the season.
Plant pansies, dianthus, alyssum, violas, snapdragons, phlox, and
cosmos for early spring color, as they are frost tolerant. Annuals that can tolerate heat and humidity include begonias,
impatiens, marigolds, petunias, and vinca.
Annuals that can tolerate high stress and will flower all summer
until a frost are lantana, scaevola, Mexican heather, portulaca, and gazania.
Annuals that can be added in the late summer to the early fall to
extend color into the fall include mums, pansies, violas, asters, ornamental
peppers, petunias, sun coleus, calibrachoas, snapdragons, and dianthus.
Calibrachoas and wave petunias are good plants for all seasons. |
