If you have not cut back dead tops to perennial material, do it now before the new vegetation begins to emerge.  Ornamental grasses, loriope, and daylilies should be starting to emerge, and hosta should be sprouting too.  If you are thinking of splitting, dividing, or thinning your perennials, you still have time to do this if you can get to it quickly.
