Raised Flower Beds

Raised Flower Beds are great for flowers, herbs, and vegetables.  Most raised beds are constructed of landscape timbers in a square or rectangular shape, but you can get creative and make your flower bed any shape you want.  You can make a raised bed as plain or fancy as you want too.  And if you really want it to stand out, you could be a little more creative and make your bed out of anything you want, like an old dresser or a bed frame.  Be sure to line the bottom and sides of your bed with a weed barrier.  A raised bed should be at least 14" deep or more to provide sufficient soil mass to retain moisture when you water.  Shallow raised beds, like container gardens, will require more frequent waterings.
